KAUNAS CITY SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
Principal conductor Constantine Orbelian (USA), director Algimantas Treikauskas
Conductor MARTYNAS STAŠKUS
In commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, together with the Tauragė Music Festival team, we invite you to a concert dedicated to this occasion, which will feature the monumental symphonic poems “Miškas” and “Jūra”.
“I would like to compose a symphony from the sound of the waves, from the mysterious language of a century-old forest, from the twinkling of the stars, from our songs and my boundless longing.” These two symphonic poems are perhaps the most famous musical works by Čiurlionis. Unfortunately, neither of them was performed while the composer was still alive. These are not just broad paintings of nature, they contain a complex world of spiritual experiences, a deep philosophy of human existence, and their characteristic thoughtful monumentality.
See You at the concert!
